Nike at long last brings the NBA and NASA together. Set for release on February 23rd the Nike Zoom KDIV will be worn by Kevin Durant during the All-Star Game in Florida on February 19th. The space age shoe dons a metallic silver on the upper, with a detailed milky way graphic spread across the sleek midsole and a NASA like KD patch on the tongue. I really like the patch.  Of course Nike didn’t leave LeBron and Kobe out of the fun as they will also don NASA inspired versions of their signature shoe on All-Star Sunday. 

Release Date: February 23rd, 2012 (Thursday)

Set in a wolf grey upper, the model also features contrasting white stitching and branding. Plastic inserts in the side panels compliment the grey and white mixture, while a translucent outsole finishes off the design. Can’t forget the 3M on the tounge for good measure.  Release date is Saturday, May 14, 2011, and there won’t be many to go around.

Thanks to the World Renown Chris ‘Hek’, we were about to get a hands on look at the Grey 5′s early. Kicks this delicate deserve some sort of insurance.

After avoiding lines, a few returned favors, and a promise to stop begging, we were able to get the entire staff of THETRUTHSPORTS each their own pair of AIR JORDAN 7 “BORDEAUX”. Every sneaker-head has waited somewhat patiently since its original debut in 1992 for their re-release.

The Reebok Faywood is one of Reebok’s many high top designs, and although we haven’t seen too many head turning designs release in the silhouette, their classy yet simple design makes them a must have for any sneaker collection. It’s sort of that shoe that looks worn out when its brand new. Shown here is a new version which recently made its way to select Reebok accounts. It features a buttery brown leather construction, along with a white, Hexalite infused sole, as well as a ripstop nylon collar. You can pick up a pair now at German based TGWO for around a $100.

For the first time in its 64-year history, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has banned a new line of shoes based on the league’s rule against an “unfair competitive advantage” that increases a player’s vertical leap. The league’s ban on Athletic Propulsion Labs’ Concept 1 confirms the company’s claims that the shoe, with its Load ‘N Launch™ Technology, performs as advertised. No professional player will be allowed to wear the product in games for the upcoming 2010-2011 NBA season.

Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) was notified by a senior NBA official who stated, “League rules regulate the footwear that players may wear during an NBA game. Under league rules, players may not wear any shoe during a game ‘that creates an undue competitive advantage (e.g., to increase a player’s vertical leap).’ In light of that rule…players will not be permitted to wear the APL shoes during NBA games.”

Prior to the ban, the Concept 1 shoe had already attracted the interest of NBA players, including a raft of rookies, some of whom have tested them in non-NBA settings. Retailing for $300, the shoes continue to be sold primarily through APL’s website (www.athleticpropulsionlabs.com), and the company is exploring a potential expansion into select athletic footwear and sporting goods retailers.

This action comes on the 25th anniversary of the NBA’s ban on Nike’s Air Jordan shoes, albeit for reasons of their colorful appearance rather than any performance advantage. NBA commissioner David Stern officially banned Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan I from the NBA courts for failure to meet the on-court dress code. Stern declared that MJ’s shoes did not properly match the Chicago Bulls jerseys. Prior to this memorable act, David Stern fined Michael Jordan $5,000 every time he stepped on the court in the Air Jordan I. In a gutsy move, Nike willingly paid MJ’s fine every game, as the shoe company discovered the potential of excessive notoriety and hoopla with this act.

LeBron James was at the grand opening for House of Hoops Miami to sign some autographs, take pictures, answer a few questions to snub Kobe Bryant and to show off his LeBron VIII “Pre-Heat / South Beach” colorway for the first time in public.

With multiple shades of grey appearing on the upper, as well as a little black suede, these kicks don’t rely on a bright accent color the way past AM95s have. The blue-tinted outsole and clear lace loops grab enough attention on their own. Look closely and you’ll notice that the small Swoosh near the collar is actually clear plastic with grey embroidery surrounding it.
