The Madison Square Garden Theater was ready for draft night as early as 4 am, when fans begin to line up to assure they had a seat when the $15 tickets went on sale at 11 am. Fans from across the country were in attendance to cheer for their respective teams, and boo Commissioner David Stern every time he walked out to the podium. The Chicago Bulls stole some of the early shine by proposing the trade of Kirk Hinrich to the Wizards. Not to be outdone by the Bulls, the Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen decided to part ways with GM Kevin Pritchard on draft night, but let him still make draft decisions….? The 2010 NBA Draft went pretty much as expected early, with the exception of the Utah Jazz stealing Gordon Hayward from the Pacers. The University of Kentucky set a record with 5 first round selections.

Here is a break-down of pick #1-#15:

First pick, Washington Wizards: John Wall, 6-4, 195, Kentucky, point guard.: The lock No. 1 pick, Wall has been called the most electrifying player in this year’s draft. A product of the John Calipari one-and-done mold, Wall averaged 16 points, six boards and four dimes. Wall brings the Wizards superior speed, athleticism, and late-game shot making, plus a relief from the circus of last year.

Second pick, Philadelphia 76ers: Evan Turner, 6-7, 205, Ohio State, guard. There was nothing Turner didn’t do for Ohio State, and he’s the most dynamic player in the draft. He averaged 20 points, 9 boards, and 6 dimes last season. With a good game around the basket and a solid midrange shot, Turner only needs to work on his outside shooting and ball handling. He shot 36% from three-point range and turned the ball over 4.4 times per game. Doug Collins new head coach of the 76ers gets another chance to coach a future superstar as he did in Chicago with MJ.

Third pick, New Jersey Nets: Derrick Favors, 6-10, 246, Georgia Tech, forward. A rare athlete who can explode from the floor, he’s also got a massive 7-4 wingspan. Though raw, he has shown signs of being a dominant force on both ends. He needs to add weight, improve his conditioning/shooting/ball handling and learn to play against double-teams, but he should become a special player.

Fourth pick, Minnesota Timberwoves: Wesley Johnson, 6-7, 205, Syracuse, forward. A lottery-level talent that is NBA-ready, he’s an explosive athlete who has a good mid-range game and can finish at the rim. He’s a good teammate and an underrated passer, but last season’s Big East Player of the Year needs to add weight and be more aggressive when his jumper isn’t falling. Wesley was also best-dressed.

Fifth pick, Sacramento Kings: DeMarcus Cousins, 6-11, 270, Kentucky, power forward/center. A top-five talent, with excellent athleticism, offensive and defensive skills, he’s a nightmare matchup. Many tend to be critical of his maturity, but, he was one of the best players in the country last season (15.1 points, 9.8 boards).

Sixth pick, Golden State Warriors: Ekpe Udoh, 6-10, 240, Baylor, forward. Udoh was one of the reasons Baylor emerged in the Elite 8 to face off with eventual-champion Duke. His ability to run the floor in a fast-paced offensive possession or hit a midrange shot in the half-court game led to 13 points, 9.8 boards and 3.7 blocks. He needs to improve his overall offensive game, ball-handling and add some weight.

Seventh pick, Detroit Pistons: Greg Monroe, 6-11, 253, Georgetown, forward. A huge upside–some call him a less-athletic Lamar Odom. Monroe can play with his back to the basket or face up. He averaged 16.1 points and 9.6 boards last season, and also dished 12 assists against Providence, the most by a center in Big East Conference history. Needs to prove he can dominate a game, and develop a more consistent jump shot.

Eighth pick, Clippers: Al-Farouq Aminu, 6-9, 215, Wake Forest, power forward. One of the best athletes in the draft; he uses his explosive first step to get to the bucket. He became a double-double player last season (15.8, 10.7), but is turnover prone (3.2 per game last season) and lacks ball-handling skills, relying too often on his athleticism. Still, a fine pick for an up-tempo team.

Ninth pick, Utah Jazz: Gordon Hayward, 6-8, 207, Butler, forward. He led the Bulldogs on their magical run to the NCAA title game and has a high basketball IQ, an outstanding touch (84% from free-throw line) and sneaky athleticism. He lacks post moves and will need to improve his defense in the NBA. Some question his lack of aggressiveness.

10th pick, Indiana Pacers: Paul George, 6-8, 210, Fresno State, forward. A great athlete who has deep range on his jump shot, rebounds well and can run the floor, NBA teams covet players with his size and skill set. Needs to improve his ball-handling and learn to not settle for the outside shot, but he’s an enticing player.

11th pick, New Orleans Hornets: Cole Aldrich, 6-11, 245, Kansas, center. A throwback-style big man that has good footwork and an awkward-but-efficient shooting touch, he’s also a strong shot blocker (averaged 3.5 last season) and cleans the glass well (10.5 boards his last two seasons). While not terribly athletic and fairly calm, a la Tim Duncan, Aldrich possesses strong fundamentals and better-than-average vision for his size.

12th pick, Memphis Grizzlies: Xavier Henry, 6-6, 220, Kansas, shooting guard. The smoothest player in the draft, he moves effortlessly and is a natural scorer who is deadly from outside (40%). He can slash if he needs to and finish at the rim, but he often relies on his left hand too much and can settle for outside shots. At times, he looks passive; at others, fiercely competitive.

13th pick, Toronto Raptors: Ed Davis, 6-10, 225, North Carolina, forward. After being overshadowed by Tyler Hansbrough, Davis had a breakout freshman year (13.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.8 blocks) and showcased his potential as one of the top talents. Long, athletic, with several post moves and speed to run the floor, the main knock against him is his lack of strength  he also needs a reliable jump shot  but his upside is huge.

14th pick, Houston Rockets: Patrick Patterson, 6-9, 235, Kentucky, forward. One of the more NBA-ready forwards in the draft, he made significant improvements to his game in his junior season, including becoming an outside threat (35% from behind the arc) and a defensive presence (1.3 blocks per game). His intelligence, maturity and ability to learn should help him on the next level, though he’s still undersized to be a power forward, which is exactly what Houston loves.

15th pick, Milwaukee Bucks: Larry Sanders, 6-11, 235, VCU, forward. One of the most athletic players in this draft, Sanders had a breakout season as a sophomore, when he averaged 2.7 blocks per game. As a junior, he averaged 14.4 points, 9.1 boards and 2.6 blocks. He still has some developing to do, but his combination of size and speed give him plenty of potential.

Everything is bigger in Texas, the food, the people, and the stadiums. This years NBA All-Star game is taking place in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. NBA Commissioner David Stern said because of the collaboration between Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, “The result is now we’re going to wind up having the largest crowd attend a game in the history of the world.”

Both Jones and Cuban have said they hoped the NBA would try to surpass 100,000 fans. The building record is 105,121, set during the New York Giants’ 33-31 victory over the Cowboys in the home opener. During a recent interview with The News’ Eddie Sefko, Stern remarked that the All-Star Game will “set and retire” basketball’s attendance record.

Nuggets 97 Rockets 92: The Nuggets won for the second straight time without Carmelo Anthony, the NBA’s second-leading scorer, who sat out with a sprained left ankle. The Rockets lost for the eighth time in 12 games, despite yet another dominating start. Chauncey Billups and J.R. Smith were enough to beat the sputtering Rockets who have lost a bit of the intensity they had early in the season. Not to point the finger but Trevor Ariza is shooting 13-45 over the three game skid.

Hawks 90 Spurs 105: An old dog never loses its tricks and the Spurs used everyone of those tricks on display in a trouncing of Atlanta. Tim Duncan grabbed a career-high 27 rebounds and scored 21 points, and the San Antonio Spurs ended their three-game slide with a 105-90 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. It was the first 20-20 game since 2005 for Duncan, who bested his previous career rebounding high of 25, set against Miami in 2003. Jamal Crawford earned his 23rd career 4-point play. Now just one behind Reggie Miller’s NBA record. Whwn the Hawks win and lose BIG!

Lakers 118 Pacers 96: Bynum scored 22 points in the first half. Kobe Bryant took over in the second half and finished with a game-high 29 points to go with nine rebounds and seven assists. Bynum finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Indiana decided to go small and it failed. Times have been rough in Indiana, for basketball at least. The Indianapolis Colts are playing in the Super Bowl next Sunday! Los Angeles doesn’t even have a football team, so…small victories.

Bulls 96 Thunder 86: Derrick Rose scored 26 points, Noah added 13 points and 11 rebounds and the Bulls held the Oklahoma City without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter on their way to a 96-86 victory on Wednesday night. The Truth Sports knew the Del Negro ship would stay afloat. It was Chicago’s fourth straight win — all on the road — after starting the season 4-15 away from the United Center. The Bulls — fresh off wins at Phoenix, Houston and San Antonio — improved to 22-22, returning to .500 for the first time since they were 6-6 on Nov. 21. A disappointing 3 game losing streak that gets tested Friday against the Nuggets….good luck

Heat 103 Raptors 111: Chris Bosh had 24 points and a season-high 18 rebounds,Andrea Bargnani scored 27 points and Raptors played another solid game after beating the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Ron Turenne/NBAE via Getty Images

“We put (the Lakers game) behind us,” Bosh said. “One thing about a big win, you don’t want to beat a good team and then come back and have a poor performance. You always want to keep the momentum going and I think we’re building some good resistance at home.” Dwyane Wade had 35 points and 10 assists and former Raptors center Jermaine O’Neal scored 22 for Miami, which lost Michael Beasley to a right knee injury. The injury may keep him out of Heats next game against Detroit. Bosh is the onlyRaptors player to start all 46 games this season, and even more appealing to the Heat, and the Rockets, and the…….

Timberwolves 95 Cavaliers 109: Cavs are 9-0 at home against Western Conference teams, if you consider the Timberwolves a team. Just kidding, but this one was a no-brainer. LeBron is dancing in the highlights, and thats never a good sign.

Grizzlies 99 Pistons 93: The Pistons 11-19 (57.9%) free-throw shooting was the only negative output of the game, unfortunately the Grizzlies shot 26-28 (92.9%) from the stripe. The Grizzlies have passed all the wins they had all last season(24). Ben Gordon (groin) missed his 19th game of the season, and Will Bynum (ankle) also sat out for Detroit.

76ers 88 Bucks 91: This game was not watched, yet it was played. Brandon Jennings scored 18 points, hitting a 12-footer with 22 seconds left, and the Bucks held on for a 91-88 win on Wednesday night after the Sixers missed three shots to tie in the final 11 seconds. Iverson finished with six points, all in the first half.

Jazz 106 Trailblazers 95: Here are some mismatch numbers. The Jazz had 19 turnovers the Blazers had 9. Utah shot 60.3 percent from the field, hitting 38 of 63 shots. Portland shot 36.3 percent (33 of 91). Utah led by as many as 26 points during the first half. The Jazz won for the eighth time in nine games and took over second place in the Northwest Division. Carlos Boozer, who scored 14 points, left the game early in the third quarter with a right calf strain and did not return. Can you hear the money slipping through Boozers fingers. It sounds like when Sonic loses his rings.

Hornets 123 Warriors 110: Did you know Stephen Curry is 5th in steals per game, crazy right? Chris Paul scored 38 points to lead five New Orleans starters in double figures. Paul shot 14 for 19 from the field, made all nine of his free-throw tries, dished out nine assists and grabbed six rebounds. Paul is a lock for All-Star reserve. Monta Ellis returned for Golden State after missing the past two games with a sprained right ankle and had 19 points, nine assists and six rebounds. He had been averaging 30.7 points over his previous 16 outings. Hope this doesn’t hurt Monta’s chances of making it to the All-Star Game as a reserve. The roster is to be announced tomorrow.

The Adidas Originals Phantom II NBA Pack has been released in celebration of six (some what)legendary NBA Franchises. Not sure the Heat are “legendary” but had to have a shoe for that region I suppose. Could of made a San Antonio, or Houston Rockets shoe…i’m just saying.

The throwback design comes in stare-worthy colors and modern touches bring heat to this classic 90s basketball obsession. Each shoe includes a woven team logo on the tongue and the teams name splashed across the heel. These limited edition sneaks will be available in the teams represented cities in very limited quantity. Still upset about the Texas teams diss!!

The NBA season is far from over, but the year has changed and each team has resolutions to make them better this year. Here is a team by team look at those resolutions.

The NBA season is far from over, but the year has changed and each team has resolutions to make them better this year. Here is a team by team look at those resolutions.

ATLANTA HAWKS

We resolve to avoid the Cleveland Cavaliers at all cost. Continue playing roller-caster basketball and make fans happy by making playoffs and losing in first round. Also to do whatever possible to keep Joe Johnson at the end of the season!

BOSTON CELTICS

We resolve to continue making Rajon Rondo’s head swell with self-esteem, prescribe Rasheed Wallace some mood-stabilizers and keep everyone healthy come playoff time. We are the only kryptonite to the Los Angeles Lakers.

CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

We resolve to get Tyson Chandler, DeSagana Diop, or Nazr Mohammed off the team. Keep Gerald Wallace happy, and cut down on turnovers.

CHICAGO BULLS

We are young and inexperienced, so we resolve to grow up fast, or get ready to say goodbye to Coach Del Negro.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

2010 has sadly arrived and we resolve to lighten the disappointment to our fans when Duke James decides to play elsewhere next season.

DALLAS MAVERICKS

We resolve to let the past not continue to haunt us. We also resolve to assist Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Terry by scoring points.

DETROIT PISTONS

I, Joe Dumars resolve to let the team we have now continue to play together, and let Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, and Ben Gordon all get healthy so we can make the playoffs.

DENVER NUGGETS

We resolve to make George Karl happy, and play defense, every game, not just against the good teams.

GOLDEN ST. WARRIORS

We the Golden St. Warriors fans resolve to continue rooting for the Warriors even though they will never be any better then they are right now, and could someone make Monta Ellis show smile.

HOUSTON ROCKETS

I, Yao Ming resolve to return to the team at the beginning of next season, even though it seems they don’t need me.

INDIANA PACERS

We resolve to stop regretting the drafting of Tyler Hansbrough, and play defense once and a while.

L.A. CLIPPERS

I, Donald Sterling resolve to continue not caring if the Clippers win or lose. My only concern is more money. Years change but the Clippers will remain the same.

L.A. LAKERS

We resolve to add handrails to all staircases in and around Staples Center. We also resolve to let Andrew Bynum get a pass on his play as long as he doesn’t complain about Pau Gasol stealing all his limelight.

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

We resolve to re-sign Rudy Gay, and continue to re-build until we move to another city.

MIAMI HEAT

I, Dwayne Wade resolve to continue playing like a MVP, unless I don’t get any help, then I’m outta here!

MILWAUKEE BUCKS

We resolve to continue building around Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut. We also resolve to never let Charlie Bell hold Kobe Bryant one-on-one at the end of games.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

We resolve to move on from the Ricky Rubio hype, and focus on the talent we have.

NEW JERSEY NETS

I, the borough of Brooklyn resolve to not judge the team that is headed our way. If Jay-Z likes them, we like them too.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS

We resolve to prepare the fans for the departure of Chris Paul, and explain that Darren Collison is indeed the future of the team.

NEW YORK KNICKS

I, Knicks fan, resolve to pray each and every night that Lebron James and friends come to the Knicks. Its our only hope!

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

We resolve to continue playing well, and growing, and not wearing Kevin Durant’s sneakers, because they are bad luck.

ORLANDO MAGIC

I, Dwight Howard resolve to demand the ball more often, and to hold Stan Van Gundy to his word regarding his behavior.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

We resolve to not rely solely on any player with the initials A.I.. Also we resolve to throw out the Princeton offense, which obviously isn’t working.

PHOENIX SUNS

I, Steve Nash resolve to play for the Suns for the rest of my life, and to continue making each and every game fun for everyone.

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS

I, the Rose Garden resolve to break the curse that has been put on me, causing everyone on the team to get hurt!

SACRAMENTO KINGS

We resolve to play each game like it matters, and to keep pleading with the Maloof brothers to move us to Las Vegas.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS

We resolve to actually start preparing for Tim Duncans retirement, and to let Richard Jefferson know he can shoot the ball.

TORONTO RAPTORS

I, Chris Bosh resolve to play hard through the rest of the season, then get the hell out of Canada.

UTAH JAZZ

We resolve to continue resarching a machine that can hook up to Jerry Sloan that allows him to coach forever!

WASHINGTON WIZARDS

We resolve to add metal detectors at all entrances to the Verizon Center, and find someone to be Gilbert Arenas’s friend.

The Houston Rockets have to hear on a daily basis how they are without two of there best players. Somehow the lost of Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady has yet to effect them. The Rockets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 95-85, forcing the Cavaliers into 20 turnovers, five from “Duke” James. The Rockets have lived and died by the 3 this season, and Shane Battier attempted three 3′s before 2 minutes had even passed in the game. The Rockets shot 9-21 from deep, holding Cleveland to 5-15. “Earl” James finished with 27 points and Shaq had 7 points on a night where the Rockets defense lulled the Cavs to sleep. “No one guy is going to stop LeBron, and no one guy is going to stop Shaq,” said Battier, who also had three steals and two blocks. “But our guys did a great job of building a wall behind LeBron and just by being there, they deterred some of the drives. We played really good help-side defense.” The Rockets have once again beaten an “elite” team in the NBA. Aaron Brooks finished with 27 points the Rockets are 6-1 when Aaron Brooks scores at least 20. Both Trevor Ariza and Shane Battier made four 3′s.

Yikes! Whats going on with these guys. Luis Scola, and Anderson Varejo have two of the worst hairdos in the NBA.

The Philadelphia 76ers have lost 11th straight, and even the emotions of signing Allen Iverson haven’t translated into victories. Allen Iverson played against another former team the Detroit Pistons, and Rodney Stucky reminded Iverson, he can play. Stckey finished with 27 points and 8 assists. Iverson is 0-5 this season — three losses with Memphis; two with the 76ers. Iverson missed seven of 10 shots from the floor and had three assists. “It’s going to get better,” Iverson said. “This is one of these times when you find out what type of character you have as men” said Iverson.

The Utah Jazz strolled into the Staples Center Wednesday to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately for the Jazz they began to play off key in the second half. The Lakers outscored the Jazz 46-14 from the 6 minute mark in the third to the end of the game. The Jazz shot 11% from the field in the 4th quarter. The Jazz have about as much depth as a Paris Hilton Autobiography, The Lakers won easily 101-77, pushing their winning streak to 10 games. Kobe Bryant scored 27 points, Pau Gasol had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

It’s MAN’S MONDAY!!!

There are four games on the NBA schedule tonight, and starting off is the Denver Nuggets at Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers are on a 9 game losing streak, and “The Answer” is back in the starting lineup as if we all are experiencing some “twilight zone” experience. The 76ers also play the next 5 at home, which coupled with numerous ticket packages should get the Sixers out of the attendance basement. To the benefit of all NBA fans the game is on NBATV.

In the second game, the Portland Trailblazers travel to New York without Greg Oden for the first time this season. Sad as the injury to Oden is, it now allows the Blazers to fly in and out of the lane without Oden’s post presence. The Blazers next 4 are on the road, and they should benefit from the adversity on the road re-learning how to play without Oden. They did well last season without him, and Andre Miller wasn’t there.

Golden St. and Oklahoma City, face off for the first time of the year, in the battle of “Future Playoff Teams” The Warriors have played solid following the trade of Stephen Jackson. This game will feature less defense then the Pittsburgh Steelers without Troy Polamalu. Frist team to 100 wins this one. *SideNote=The Ravens-Packers Monday Night Football games starts 30 minutes into this one, so if you are anti-offense flipping over to MNF should fulfill you with the defense you were looking for.

The last night pits to old foes the San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz. Carlos Boozer has been playing as if his “eyebrows” are less heavy. The Spurs have lost the last two, and winning in Utah is about as difficult as solving a rubik’s cube blindfolded.
